An Icon goes home too soon

On Sunday February 12th,i woke up to get ready for church and i was calling out to my hubby who was still in bed,i saw the red light blink on my phone which indicates i had a message,i flipped through my phone and saw all the profile updates''RIP WHITNEY'' and i stood rooted for 10mins.

My Icon cant be dead was what i said out loud and then hurriedly i put on the tv and flipped channels and found out it was true,CNN reported that she had truly passed.I was devastated, not again.I lost MJ 3years ago and i have not gotten over his death and now Whitney?I grew up in a musically inclined environment so am addicted to music especially Pop and R&b,so it is a sad loss for me,the tears could not be controlled(i cried for 2 weeks when Mj passed(lol)you cant blame me,he was my first music love)but with Whitney i prayed more, for her soul and her family.

I have followed her career through out and i know some people will crucify her and say she over used the drugs and did not know when to stop. But i think at a point especially in the last one year she had appeared clean and had gotten her groove back.As the world mourns Whitney Elizabeth Houston,i mourn my second Pop Icon, legend and a friend i made through Music.Sleep on Princess.

Violent wind kills 5 in lagos

A very fierce wind killed 5 people last Monday and destroyed several properties worth Millions of Naira in Lagos.Areas hit were Yaba,Ejigbo,Obalende,Ikoyi,Ijeshatedo,Isolo and some parts of the Lagos Island.

The chief Meterologist of the Nigerian Meterological Agency Mr Abayomi Oyegoke said it was normal due to the change in climate i.e from dry season to rainy season. He said the storm will not occur in the near future but that there will a very dusty atmosphere as soon as the rains begin.

A picture of the damaged car in Obalende

The picture above shows how a bill board fell on a Toyota Corolla 2009 Saloon Car in the Obalende Area of Ikoyi, the 2 passengers in the car were lucky to escape as they said they saw as the bill board was slowly falling and they had to abandon the car and flee.

One of the dead victims, was said to have been hit by a telecommunications mast in Dodan Barracks,Ikoyi.Eyewitnesses said he had just alighted form a motorbike popularly known as Okada and was trying to cross the road when the mast fell on him and killed him instantly.

At the Jakande area, two persons were killed by the storm,a tree fell on one of the and the other was killed by a falling roof.At the Lekki Phase 1 axis, two persons were reported dead.It was reported that one of them was killed by a DBN Television Mast and at the time of his death he was a Security Personnel at a Company.

THE BEST OF THE BEST IN NIGERIA ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY IN 2011

I am toluwalope, i was with some friends last weekend to have fun and to also discuse on the glitz, glamour and the razzmatazz in the Nigerian Entertainment industry in year 2012. We came up with this Nigger Hot Musical Videos for year 2011 and what 2012 holds.

Pakurumo video by Wizkid was our number one best musical video. The video was on point with different parade of A- list artistes which  will make you want to see the video over and over again.

Oliver Twist and Mr. Endowed Remix feat Snoop Dogg by the Koko Master D’Banj also made a lot of news in the entertainment industry in 2001. With his signing on to Kanye West's Good Music Record Label, the best is yet to come from Dapo Oyebanjo.

Yes! Another guy you will not forget in 2011 is Samklef with his single ‘Molowo noni’ feat wizkid, Ice Prince and Prince. The producer is another dude that will send a lot of uncooked producers and artistes packing in 2012.

He does not rap like Jay-Z but he’s one of the best rappers in Nigeria. With his ‘Get Down’ video featuring Tu-baba, vector has come to stay and he will be on the stage for a very long time. I don’t think this young chap will allow anybody push him aside; he has come to stay and he'll surely smile to the banks in 2012. His collaboration with 9ice on the ''Angeli Mi'' Tracks shows he has a lot to offer.

The self acclaimed rapper popularly known as Naeto C has no other alphabetical name for his track album but numbers instead. From 10 over 10 to 5&6 may be the next will be 1001 who knows. But really, I think 5&6 was cool. The lady used in the video gives a ''wow'' factor anytime the  song airs.
Sexy ladies like Tiwa Savage, Omawunmi, Asa, Lami, Mochedda and some other female artistes made statements in 2011. But Waje and Munachi killed that video ‘So Inspired’ with their electrifying act.  Muna is someone to watch out for, from being a beauty Queen to a Rapper, she really has got the swags.

Jah bless, Joor o! The remix video was very creative. Dj Tee big ups to you on that one, it was on POINT. I saw a yoruba inclined song that made me laugh, with the Jide Kosoko and Spartacus thingy,Jah killed the song.

Tolz signing out for now.

NIJ Launches 3million Naira manual Car

Amidst of the new Lagos State policy to face out all manual powered vehicles out of the city by 2015, the Nigerian Institute of Journalism has recently purchased a new Kia Soul car worth over 2.5 million naira.
the vehicle which was delivered sometime in February was purchased for official purposes and also to aid the institution's authority's movement round  town and surburb
We gathered that the reason why the vehicle is not operational yet is because the office of the chief driver of the institution is still vacant and once that office is occupied, the vehicle will become operational.
Although the rationale behind the institution's decision to purchase a manual vehicle at this time is not known but we do hope that the authority has considered the cost of maintenance of the vehicle as the brand can only receive the adequate attention at the manufacturer's designated workshops..
